I have over 16 years of experience as a manual therapist, treating individuals that are looking for pain relief and functional improvement. I have extensive training in craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation, myofascial release, joint mobilization and nerve manipulation, and have taught classes in medical massage, sports massage, anatomy, physiology and kinesiology.
While many practitioners operate with particular 'recipes' for treating clients, I treat each individual as a whole and unique case. Sessions may differ from one to the next, and treatment is dependent upon the client's needs in the moment and the feedback that I receive from each client.
I am certified and in good standing with the California Massage Therapy Council and am a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. I have recently been named the Best Massage Therapist by the Bay Area Reporter.
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle modality that involves the manipulation of the sutures of the skull and the membranous soft tissues of the head, neck and lower back in order to relieve stress and tensions that frequently cause dysfunction in these and surrounding areas.
Visceral Manipulation is another gentle modality that focuses on releasing the fascial and muscular components of visceral organs in order to reestablish fluid movements of these structures within the thoracic, abdominal and pelvic cavities. Visceral tensions are often associated with pain and dysfunction in nearby musculoskeletal structures.
Light to Heavy pressure is used to release adhesions in connective tissues (tendon, ligament, fascia) or lengthen short and tight muscles. This technique is often used to increase range of motion of joints that have become limited due to soft tissue tension.
